Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced IT Project Manager for a contract role to oversee and execute the seamless relocation of our IT infrastructure from one building to another. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating all aspects of the office move related to IT, ensuring minimal disruption to operations and a smooth transition of technology assets.

Responsibilities:

Building Planning:

  • Procurement of hardware and materials ahead of the office move
  • Communicating with builders and engineers ie for routing of cables
  • Ensuring physical infrastructure supports the business and IT needs

Project Planning and Strategy:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive project plan outlining the tasks, milestones, and timelines for the IT aspects of the office move.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand requirements and align IT objectives with the overall office relocation strategy.

Team Coordination:

  • Lead and manage a cross-functional team of IT professionals involved in the move, including network specialists, systems administrators, and support staff.
  • Foster effective communication and collaboration within the IT team and with other departments impacted by the relocation.

Infrastructure Assessment and Migration:

  • Conduct a thorough assessment of the existing IT infrastructure to identify potential challenges and opportunities for improvement during the move.
  • Develop and execute a plan for the migration of Servers, network equipment, and other critical IT assets to the new location.

Vendor Management:

  • Collaborate with external vendors and service providers to ensure a seamless transition of IT services.
  • Negotiate contracts and agreements with vendors for the provision of necessary IT services at the new location.

Risk Management:

  • Identify potential risks and develop contingency plans to mitigate the impact of unforeseen issues during the office move.
  • Monitor project progress and address any issues that may arise promptly.

User Support and Training:

  • Coordinate with the IT support team to provide assistance to users during the transition period.
  • Develop and implement training programs for employees to familiarize them with new IT systems and processes.

Documentation:

  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of the IT infrastructure, configurations, and changes made during the relocation process.
  • Ensure that all documentation is updated and organized for future reference.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as an IT Project Manager, preferably with a focus on office relocations or similar projects.
  • Strong understanding of IT infrastructure, networks, and systems.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Project management certification (PMP, PRINCE2) is a plus.
  • Familiarity with relevant technologies and industry best practices.

Candidates must be eligible to work in the UK without Visa restrictions.
