Data Scientist (Contract)

Location: Newport, Wales Country: UK Rate: £20 - £20.47 per hour + Hybrid Working, Flexible Working
 

My client are a large government organisation, they are seeking a Data Scientist on an initial 9 month contract basis (37 hours per week). The role is paying £20.47 per hour for the duration of the contract, INSIDE IR35.

Qualifications

PhD/Degree/MSc in a highly numerate subject (eg Data Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics)

Mandatory Experience

  • Experience using open-source tools, such as Python, R and Git.
  • Awareness of the limitations and ethics around using data from varying sources, including open data.
  • Ability to design, write, and iterate code to work with data. You understand documentation, testing and version control.
  • Understanding of how to design analysis to support a decision. This could include statistical techniques for modelling, hypothesis testing or time series analysis.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate complex analysis to non-specialists and contribute effectively to stakeholders.
  • Ability to deliver outputs to tight deadlines and overcome challenges to ensure quality business outcomes.
  • Able to prioritise and manage your own work and others in line with organisational objectives.
  • The ability to explain and communicate your findings to a varied audience will also be essential.

Successful candidates will be required to undergo BPSS Clearance, therefore applicants must of resided in the UK for a minimum of four out of the last five years, in order to undergo this level of security check.
