Test Team Principle (Contract)
Location: Cardiff, Wales Country: UK Rate: £210 per day
Venesky-Brown's client, a public sector organisation in Cardiff, is currently looking to recruit a Tester - NHS for an initial 3 month contract with potential to extend on a rate of £210/day (Inside of IR35). This role will be predominantly remote based with some travel to offices in Cardiff.
Responsibilities:
- To test a series of APIs to verify that the API fulfils its expected functionality, security, performance, and reliability.
- To develop and maintain the project test strategy on projects in accordance with specifications.
- To ensure that the application performs to the requirements of its users and clinicians.
- To provide specialist advice and support on software testing to the NHS in various areas of health informatics
- All testing work is undertaken in accordance with the policies, processes and procedures.
- Develop and maintain effective written and verbal communication with individuals and larger groups of customers and stakeholders of all levels, explaining difficult and highly complex IT processes and issues often being the senior testing contact.
- Arrange, lead and participate in meetings with various levels of internal and external customers and stakeholders to: - discuss and agree testing requirements, progress defects, problems and issues and answer queries.
- Liaise as necessary with staff at all levels on testing related matters, dealing with conflicting requirements and priorities.
- Refocus discussions where necessary, to resolve conflict and establish acceptable conclusions.
- Provide oral and written advice to customers in the use of testing of systems and services developed by the directorate
- Conduct formal seminars on the benefits of testing systems and products
- Produce testing documentation that provides all necessary information to allow continuing testing and improvements in testing of systems and services
- Be able to communicate outcomes of testing through the provision of test reports through API's
Essential Skills:
- Degree in information and IT related subject or equivalent qualifications and experience
- ISTQB in Software Testing or equivalent experience
- Evidence of on-going professional development
- Significant experience in managing software testing in highly complex technology-based products.
- Experience of writing and implementing test strategies and plans for complex environments.
- Experience in the creation of phase specific test plans
- Experience in the management of the defect life cycle
- Experience in the creation and execution of test scripts
- Ability to communicate with staff up to a senior level on complex business or clinical processes.
- Ability to read and comprehend clinical business requirements and high-level design deliverables to write detailed test cases.
- Excellent knowledge of testing processes and an understanding of how these fits within an overall project life cycle
- Excellent knowledge of defect management and structured approaches to resolution of issues
- Able to be proactive in problem identification and pursuit of resolution.
- Ability to organise own work and the work of other testing professionals effectively
- Good understanding of the software development life cycle
- Good knowledge of different test methodologies
- Proven knowledge in the use of Microsoft Office Tools and Test management tools eg Azure DevOps
- An understanding of software development products, operating systems, databases and other technical eg MS SQL Server, SQL, Windows Server, Team Foundation Server, XML, Visual Studio, APIs- Power Platform ALM including CI/CD
Desirable Skills:
- Registered with a relevant informatics professional body.
- PRINCE 2 foundation in project management
- Experience of working in Public Sector environment
- Reading - Understanding Welsh
