Windows Server Infrastructure Engineer - Manchester - 3 months - Inside IR35 (Contract)

Location: Manchester Country: UK Rate: £500.00 Day rate - Inside IR35
 

Global IT Solutions Company requires a suitably experienced Windows Server Infrastructure Engineer for their client based onsite in Manchester.

For this 6 Month contract you will be required to be on-site in Manchester 5 days per week.

You will need to have current Microsoft certification for this contract role.

Windows Server Infrastructure Engineer

Location: Manchester

Contract Length: 3 months

Day Rate: £500.00 Day rate - Inside IR35

Windows Server expected tasks:

Remediation of Windows Server OS, such as updating firmware, drivers, Windows Server components on the existing Servers

Remediation of Windows Server OS Configuration

Create new OS's for the customer if required

Reviewing vulnerabilities for MS server and MS SQL... in place upgrades... not creating new all are in VMware, so ESXi experience is required.

For 2008, may need new machines creating. Arranging service downtime.

Essential skills required

Engineering resources need to have skills in the following areas:

Windows Server Administration: Administering and managing Windows Server operating systems, including installation, configuration, and maintenance tasks.

A knowledge of server roles, features, and services, such as Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy.

Networking and Infrastructure: In relation to Windows Servers only Understanding of networking concepts, protocols, and technologies, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, routing, and switching. Familiarity with configuring and troubleshooting network connectivity and ensuring proper Window Server setup.

Knowledge of best practices related to Windows Server environments, and ensuring security tooling is validated on each server upgrade

Analytical and problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve issues in Windows Server environments. Ability to troubleshoot network connectivity, performance problems, security vulnerabilities, and other server-related issues.

Optimise Windows Server performance through monitoring, analysing performance metrics, and fine-tuning server configurations. Ability to identify performance bottlenecks and implement optimizations to enhance server efficiency.

Desirable skills required

Server Virtualisation: Experience with server virtualisation technology VMware. Ability to deploy, configure, and manage virtual machines (VMs), virtual networks, and virtual storage in a virtualized server environment.

Active Directory Services: Working with existing teams. Familiarity with AD components such as domain controllers, sites and replication, trusts, organizational units (OUs), and user/group management. Understanding of AD integration with other services like DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy.

Possible need in using PowerShell Scripting language to automate administrative tasks, configure server settings.
