QA Automation Tester - Data Migration Project (Permanent)

Location: Remote with occasional Travel to London and other locations Country: UK Rate: £50K to £60K per annum
 

We are seeking a detail-oriented QA Automation Tester to join our team and support the data migration project from Legacy databases to AWS cloud. The QA Automation Tester will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining automated test scripts to ensure the reliability and functionality of the data migration processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Test Planning and Design:
    • Develop comprehensive test plans and strategies for automated testing of data migration workflows.
    • Design and implement automated test cases that cover key functionality, data integrity, and performance.
  2. Test Script Development:
    • Write and maintain automated test scripts using industry-standard tools and frameworks.
    • Ensure automated tests are optimised for reusability and scalability across various data migration scenarios.
  3. Test Execution and Reporting:
    • Execute automated test suites regularly, analyse test results, and report issues to the development team.
    • Track and manage test execution progress, creating comprehensive test reports for stakeholders.
  4. Defect Management:
    • Log defects in a tracking system, working closely with developers to reproduce, debug, and resolve issues.
    • Conduct regression testing to confirm defect resolution and prevent future occurrences.
  5. Continuous Improvement:
    • Review and enhance existing test automation frameworks to improve efficiency and coverage.
    • Suggest new testing tools, processes, and methodologies that align with best practices.
  6. Collaboration:
    • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including development, DevOps, and product management, to understand project requirements and scope.
    • Provide input on testability and automation opportunities during design and development phases.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in software quality assurance, with a focus on test automation.
  • Proficiency in programming or Scripting languages (Python, Java, etc.) for test automation.
  • Experience with test automation frameworks like Selenium, JUnit, or TestNG.
  • Strong understanding of SQL databases, cloud computing, and data migration processes.

Preferred Skills:

  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and tools like Jenkins or GitLab.
  • Knowledge of AWS cloud services and data storage.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
