Consulting Test Manager - UAT/SIT (Permanent)

Location: Borehamwood Country: UK Rate: Market
 

Ambitious and motivated Test Manager needed with good technical skills, team management and UAT experience, for N London office and client-based assignments, predominantly in the London area. Ideally with experience of working in the UK Higher Education and not for profit sectors, though the role will involve a variety of projects, domains, technologies and customers.

Technical Skills

  • A minimum of 6+ years testing experience, but preferably more
  • Proven experience of leading testing projects, developing strategies, plans etc
  • Must have experience of managing/co-ordinating UAT, with users of various levels
  • Good understanding of Functional Testing, System Integration Testing and knowledge of Test Automation
  • Exposure to a wide range of projects, Commercial off the Shelf Enterprise applications, integration, APIs etc
  • Team leading/test management - including scoping/estimates, allocation of work, monitoring of progress, tracking and reporting
  • Experience of working in a variety of different technical environments, with team members at all levels

Personal Skills

  • Excellent communication skills (written and spoken)
  • Experience managing projects delivered using offshore resources (either full or partial)
  • Needs to be technical, capable of integrating with an existing team and taking the lead on multiple testing projects as needed
  • It is essential you are committed, energetic and enthusiastic about testing
  • Needs to be practical and pro-active
  • Should be able to grasp concepts quickly and appreciate implications of decisions
  • Able to work well autonomously, with a focus on delivery
  • Eagerness to learn and an aptitude for picking things up quickly

About you

You need to be a confident, calm IT professional with excellent communication skills, preferably with some consulting experience, capable of quickly picking up new technologies and working on testing projects with blue chip companies in a range of industries, following internal and client procedures. You should have a minimum of 6 years testing experience, but ideally more. The role is to take the lead on testing projects, writing test strategies/plans and seeing them through to delivery with support of our team. You will have a passion for testing and will be confident running testing projects, leading and providing support to more junior staff and dealing with client personnel at all levels. You will be a self-starter, proactively seeking out solutions to problems and issues impeding progress within the wider organisation, taking decisions where needed in order to achieve project objectives. You should have experience of a range of test phases, including functional, integration, regression, acceptance, and automation.

You will be used to working closely with project managers, sponsors and technical team members to assure quality on multiple projects and streams of work. You will have experience in working in agile and waterfall environments and using the latest test management tools and techniques. Ideally you will have some experience of test automation, including managing automation projects. You must be a pro-active and outspoken team member with excellent communication skills, capable of producing clear and concise Test Strategies, Plans and Completion Reports. You must have experience of estimating timescales for projects, documenting/communicating recommended scope of testing and dealing with senior customer stakeholders.
