Site Reliability Engineer | Remote | Python or Java (Contract)

Location: City of London Country: UK Rate: Up to £710 per day
 

Job Title: Infrastructure Site Reliability Engineer (Infra SRE)
Location: Fully remote
Salary/Rate: up to £710 inside IR35/Day
Start Date: 21/05/2024
Job Type: 6 months Initial Contract (2-3 year program)

The Site Reliability Engineers (SREs) combine engineering experience and an innate drive to improve existing systems and processes, with the creativity to develop novel solutions to evolving challenges. For organisations, SREs are typically responsible for the availability and reliability of critical platform services and applications, ensuring they meet the requirements of internal and external users.

Required Skills:

Experience in Microservices (Knowledge of Microservices: Restful services - RPC services) in one or more programming languages such as Java, Python etc.

Application Developement experience - MUST

Have exposure to distributed systems (ie RestAPI, Protobuff).

Good problem-solving, analytical thinking capabilities and exceptional attention to details.

Good communication and collaboration skills.

Ability to code in Python

Linux Admin (System Administration & Network Configuration)

Debugging & Troubleshooting (Application and Infrastructure) production performance issues

Knowledge of MQ (MessageQueue - ie, Kafka, RabbitMQ)

Kubernetes Administration

CICD Tooling & DevOps Automation

Secondary - Complimentary, listed in order of priority:

Shell Scripting

Knowledge of Containers

Have exposure to distributed systems, eg, consul, zookeeper, mongodb, etc

Knowledge of Saltstack

Monitoring tools usage: Grafana, Prometheus, etc

Expertise in designing, analysing, and troubleshooting large-scale distributed systems.

Ability to debug, optimize code, and automate routine tasks.

Proficiency working with algorithms, data structures and production troubleshooting.

Expertise in problem solving and analysing global scale distributed systems.

Systematic problem-solving approach, coupled with effective communication skills and a sense of drive.
