Solutions Architect (Permanent)

Location: Glasgow, Scotland Country: UK Rate: £70k - £75k per annum
 

Your new role
Our Glasgow-based client is an institution which is recognised worldwide for its commitment to delivering excellence. Reporting to the Lead Enterprise Architect, the Solution Architect supports key stakeholders by shaping and delivering systems and solutions aligned to their needs and objectives, in this case focussing on the User Experience including CRM. Working directly with stakeholders across the university, as well as colleagues in Information Services, Transformation, Procurement, and PIA, the postholder will be accountable for delivering viable, pragmatic, and effective architectures and design blueprints which ensure the success of key transformational technology initiatives, and the realisation of the organisations' strategic objectives.

The key responsibilities:

  • Own and drive adoption of key technology-based solutions in support of User Experience initiatives.
  • Maintain the organisation's Technology Architecture and advise on the use of architecture within the key stakeholder groups.
  • Be an engaged and enthusiastic part of the diverse Technology Strategy team within the organisation. Collaborate openly on innovative solutions and engaging communications.
  • Proactively act as an advocate for the services of the Technology Strategy directorate and Information Services across the organisation, ensuring success by working with senior colleagues to gain support, sponsorship and commitment to their work.
  • Maintain effective relationships with suppliers, ensuring value for money and appropriate contractual arrangements, working with the organisation's procurement office and the Project Management Office.
  • Support the Technology Strategy Team leadership as required in briefings, analyses, and recommendations on strategic direction and change.
  • Take ownership of Architecture Roadmaps and support overall Architecture Strategy; Assist with business case creation that realises the Architecture Strategy, specifically in the area of User Experience.
  • Lead and/or support the development of system integration requirements and integration technical designs, ensuring that solutions integrate effectively with existing systems and align with the organisation's integration strategy.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Extensive proven knowledge and experience across a range of areas of technology and an awareness of current trends.
  • Highly developed appreciation of technology, data governance, and security considerations.
  • Exposure to Enterprise Architecture either generically, or via a specific framework such as TOGAF.
  • Experience of delivering and developing specialist IT service provision
  • Highly Developed Interpersonal skills: ability to communicate and liaise effectively with other technical specialists, business stakeholders and senior academics on complex problems and to provide clear and informative explanations.
  • Experience pragmatically applying technology to real world challenges.
  • Proven experience of making informed decisions whilst under pressure
  • Experience of taking responsibility for actions that can have considerable impact on a very significant section of the community
