Job Description

We are currently seeking a Microsoft BI Architect to become an integral part of our Team as a permanent, Fulltime Consultant. This role will be based in Troy, Michigan (Metro Detroit) and we are seeking a Senior level individual to perform the following:

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure that enterprise BI standards and policies are enforced
  • Drive discussions with business users to review or solicit reporting/analytical requirements
  • Translate business requirements into consumption patterns, reports and multi-dimensional models
  • Establish overall architecture and approach for reporting and analytics
  • Document overall design and architecture
  • Establish semantic layer for BI solution
  • Support data modelers in the creation of multi-dimensional models
  • Utilize SQL Server (SSIS, SSRS, SSAS) and Power BI- Expertise designing and maintaining tabular cubes in SSAS
  • Define cubes
  • Review development work and support team through the development process
  • Establish overall orchestration
  • Lead the BI team in implementing reporting or analysis solutions
  • Work with project manager to establish plan and resourcing plan
  • Mentor and coach the BI team
  • Enable self-service reporting capabilities by defining standards and processes
  • Help establish Business Intelligence Center of Competence by defining standards, policies and procedures
  • Provide architectural risk assessment and mitigation strategies
  • Perform BI tool assessments
  • Drive BI tool recommendations

Required Skills, Education, Knowledge and Experience

  • 7+ years' experience with data warehousing implementations and dimensional modelling
  • Expert level SSAS, SSIS, SSRS skills, and significant Power BI experience
  • Solid understanding of the data warehousing end-to-end development life cycle
  • Strong SQL programming skills and solid understanding of relational databases and data architecture
  • Business Intelligence reporting and analytical tools
  • Knowledge of at least one procedural language
  • Strong communication (verbal/written) communication and presentation skills.
  • Some project management or team leadership background, although this is not a project management position
  • Some Unix experience is an asset
  • Be a self-motivated individual who takes pride in delivering high quality work and working as an integral part of a team
  • Thrive in a fast-paced, results oriented environment, and have worked within the structure of a large organization
  • University degree or college diploma
